guess what.. after being searching for a suitable wifi card for my vulture, i kinda found one.. sigh. i went to mydefcon meeting on 6th august and they guys showed me a card that have the criteria i'm looking for; 1. orinoco based (agere chipset) 2. have a connector to plug an external antenna. yeah.. i borrowed the card from them for awhile and give it a test. it works just fine with my Slackware 10.0, kernel 2.6.7.

so i went for a hunt since that day and always keep checking with the supplier about the availability of the card! none.. :( not even in the main branch in KL... until yesterday.. finally! hehe.. i was so shocked when i found out one shop in Bukit Jambul Kompleks have it! and it was the last one!

the card is actually iWavePort WL11A+ from Compex. check out the datasheet here (in PDF format). there is actually a newer version called iWavePort WL11B+, but i dont think its available here in malaysia yet.. (does it matter's to me?? i dont think so.. i got mine. now i'm thinking about the external antenna. i hope i can get it soon.. :)

i found out there is a newer kernel at kernel.org, version 2.6.8.1 (how come got .1?? i think its a very small incremental patch). please check it out. download the whole tree here or the patch instead.
