check out the video below. i've successfully installed Mac OS X (again) on my Thinkpad R40. this is the first boot after i have finish the installation process and rebooted the thinkpad.

i've allocated 10GB for Mac OS X, with another 10GB for Windows XP and another 10GB for OpenBSD (for now). actually i had to borrow the DVD drive from a friend (thanx jimmy!) since my thinkpad only comes with a CDROM.

sorry this is my first video, so it's kinda lousy... hehe.

Insecure.org creator/maintainer/hacker of Nmap (Security Scanner) has released the result of the 'Top 100 Network Security Tools' for this year, based on the votes in their mailing list. this is actually the third survey done; the first was 2000 and second was 2003.

if you check out this year's list, you'll find some of the tools listed are such as wireshark (replacing ethereal), firewalk (advance traceroute), helix (knoppix-based livecd with computer forensic features - sorry! i had to put this in...), vmware (platform emulator), nagios (system and network monitoring application), etc.

the cool part about this list is that the description of the tool are provided as well; operating system, cost and whether its GUI or CLI. some of the tools, i don't even know it existed (hahaha.. gosh i'm soo naive). so, i think this is a good opportunity to know and learn more.

cheers.

one guy @ IBM figure out a way to run Linux on Windows; using LiveCD and running it as a screensaver! awesome isn't it? he construct and package the LiveCD so that it will install using the standard Windows install process and it will operate as a standard Windows screensaver.

the tools that he is using are such as Linux LiveCD ISOs, QEMU (open source PC emulator), minimalist GNU for Windows, SDL Libraries and Inno Setup (open source installer for windows programs).

read the article here. please try it out!... it seems very interesting!

latest Apple Macs are powered by Intel CPU, or its more widely known as being Intel Inside, which means, a couple of years back, a project by Apple called Project Marklar (supposingly a secret project researching/experimenting/testing/ a version of Mac OS X on Intel x86 architecture) was indeed REAL.

the news is now worldwide and of course some likes the idea and some don't. for some techies (which that includes me) start having the idea of "running Mac OS X using my current hardware" which is not released by APPLE of course. most reason will be related to $$$$, since Apple's hardware are not cheap and alot of people still can't afford to buy it. i won't be complaining on that since Apple's hardware design and architecture are awesome than any of the hardware companies i've seen.

to run the OS on standard x86 hardware, we just need to make sure 1 thing; our current CPU must be using the SSE2 or SSE3 instruction set. from what i've checked, latest CPU offerings (both from Intel and AMD) supports both of these instructions.

i have been watching the progress of booting Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware (and vice versa) closely, especially the coexistance of Mac OS X+Windows XP ( a dream come true, i'm sure..) and later on i add another thing to my thought: "why not coexist Mac OS X+Windows XP+Linux altogether?" that will be a 'dream come true! that was just a dream a couple of years back! NOT ANYMORE!!

i found the link to the guide at toxicle's blog (thanx man!). its triple boot using GRUB (darn, i never like using GRUB and i have always been using LILO... i might have to change my mind on that... OR maybe i'll make it work with LILO instead... who knows.. just wait and see). please check the guide if you are interested too!
